If you were one of the many individuals affected by the troubling pandemic that's known worldwide, you might be questioning yourself; how will I get by this holiday season? With business closures and layoffs, many people are struggling with affording the simple things in life. At Members Credit Union, we enjoy getting involved with charitable events that make giving back to our community more meaningful, even more so during a pandemic.

The hunger crisis continues and worsens for those heavily impacted by COVID-19. According to Feeding America (2020), a study states that 1 in 7 adults struggle with hunger, and 1 in 5 children are affected. MCU has joined forces with Second Harvest Food Bank and has set up drop-off boxes for canned food in our Winston-Salem, High Point, Elkin, Greensboro, and Kernersville branches. Starting the third week of November and running until December 15th, MCU asked members in the surrounding area to bring as many items as possible to help those in need not go with an empty plate this holiday season. For every ten food donations, members receive a FREE MCU t-shirt as a token of our gratitude.

Along with these efforts, this year, MCU partnered with Krispy Kreme and began selling BOGO cards purchasable at select branches. Once this fundraiser has come to an end, Members Credit Union will round up the collected money from branch sales and pick a local charity within the local community to donate the funds.

Our employees' and members' hearts of service shines for our local communities and those in need. MCU aims to bring hope and peace of mind to all during a year of such uncertainty by giving back this holiday season.
