We are sad to announce that our friend and former Members CU Board Member, Bill Parton, passed away at the age of 87 on Tuesday, November 28th. Bill was an Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. He was very active in his community of Morganton, NC where he served on many committees and boards, winning awards for his efforts as two time Kiwanian of the Year (1971, 1974) and the Partner in 4-H Award (1990). As a member of MCU’s board of directors, which Bill served on for 27 years, he was instrumental in expanding MCU’s Financial Education efforts to High Schools in the Western part of North Carolina and has been a tremendous asset to the credit union.
