Are you experiencing a high volume of pop-up advertisements while browsing the web? You may have spyware or malware installed on your computer. This type of software is installed on your computer after you click a link from a website popup, spam email, or Facebook message offering a survey or unbelievable sales offer. Once the link is clicked the malware is downloaded onto your computer and it takes over your Internet browser, causing pop-ups on websites that you frequently visit and trust.

Members CU does not present automatic pop-up windows on our online banking, online bill pay, or home page at memcu.com. Therefore, if you should experience pop-ups while visiting any of Members CU’s websites you should take proper precaution. Avoid clicking pop-up ads or entering information into pop-up web forms or surveys. You should also take the necessary steps to uninstall the malware from your computer.
How to Uninstall Malware (Instructions from deletemalware.blogspot.com)
1. Download anti-malware software and run a full system scan to detect and remove the mal-ware infection from your computer.
2. Use “Add/Remove Programs” control panel (Windows XP) or “Uninstall a Program” from the “Control Panel” (Windows 7 and Windows 8). If you are using Windows 8, simply drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select “Search” from the list and search for "Control Panel".  Then remove survey and pop-up related programs or other recently installed apps you do not recognize. Here is a list of survey related programs you should remove from your computer:

  • SeeSimilar
  • SuperLyrics
  • LyricsContainer
  • Wajam
  • Webcake
  • HD-Video
  • Coupon Server

3. Go to your web browser and remove survey pop-ups in your add-ons. Please visit deletemalware.blogspot.com for further instruction on how to remove pop-ups in your internet browser’s add-ons.
To continue having a good Internet browsing experience without the threat of pop-up scams or surveys, be sure to prevent malware with safe email practices. Don't open email or text messages from someone you don’t know and delete spam messages. Avoid offers that sound too good to be true. You can prevent spyware infection by avoiding questionable websites, close pop-ups safely by right clicking your mouse and using the system tray area, increase security settings in your Internet browser, and keep your operating system updated. Be sure to use antivirus protection, a firewall, and antispyware protection. Visit anti-spyware-review.toptenreviews.com or digitaltrends.com for help with finding the right anti-virus protection.
