Members Credit Union (MCU) along with their employees and membership raised over $7,300.00 to support Backpack food programs across the state.
Backpack food programs are run by each of the food banks across the state. Backpack food programs assist in identifying children who are at high risk of not having food at home on weekends. Most children in this program depend on school meals to be their main source of nutrition.
“We appreciate MCU and their members for raising this money. These funds will go a long way to providing meals for children in need” says Mike Oberle of the Second Harvest Food Bank Metrolina.
MCU allowed their employees to wear denim on Fridays if they made a donation to the “Backpack Buddies” campaign. MCU also reached out to their members asking for donations, and in return, members would have their name placed on a wall hanging to display in their local branch.
Funds from the fundraiser will be distributed to 4 different food banks in North Carolina which assures the funds that were raised will stay in the local area!
