MCU Scholarship Application is Available
Apply for an MCU Scholarship and Take Advantage of all the Financial Aid Possible with the Help of our College Planning Resources
Planning and paying for college is challenging. We recognize the significant hurdle that American families face when dealing with an economic crisis while still sending their high school grad to college. That’s why in September, MCU launched a free college planning site that offers college cost comparison tools that help you figure which schools fit your academic and financial needs. And we are not just providing support in planning. MCU offers several avenues for financial aid.
MCU Offers a Scholarship Program.
In 1996, MCU established a Member Scholarship Award Program to help our members pursue a college education. To date, 289 members have received a total of $237,000 in scholarships from MCU to help them invest in their education. In 2020 we awarded a total of $13,000 to ten members. The MCU Scholarship Application for the 2021-2022 academic year is available now on our website memcu.com/membership/scholarships. Applicants must be a member of Members Credit Union, plan to enroll in the upcoming 2021-2022 school year as a full-time student in an accredited college or university, and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applications should be completed and submitted by February 1, 2021.

MCU Offers a FAFSAchat tool.
Scholarships are not the only way to get free money for college. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is another way to unlock the opportunity to receive funds from the US Department of Education and other scholarship programs. Every year, about $46 billion is awarded from grants and scholarships. To help you navigate the online application, MCU offers a free FAFSAchat tool that walks you through the application and answers questions you have about applying. Don’t leave money on the table. The 2021-2022 FAFSA form is available now, and you should fill it out ASAP.
MCU Offers Student Loans n partnership with Sallie Mae®.
After you have applied for all of the scholarships possible and filled out the FAFSA form, you can fill in the gaps with a student loan. Student loans help you pay for the expenses associated with earning your degree, but the money does have to be paid back, unlike a scholarship or grant.
