MCU Can Help You Navigate This Crisis

The coronavirus has quickly changed our way of life here in the US.  As we adapt, many are already feeling the economic effects of social distancing. Business plans have been disrupted resulting in pay cuts and job losses for many and we know it's hitting home right here within our membership. As a member of our credit union, we want you to know that you are not alone. If you are worried about being able to make your loan payment on time or you fear you will not have enough cash on hand to purchase basic needs or pay other bills for the month, please read below to find out how MCU can help.

 

What if I can't pay my loan payment?

 

If you are experiencing loss of income, please call us at 800-951-8000 and ask to speak to a Financial Solutions Representative. Our Financial Solutions team will work with you to develop a plan specific to you based on your ability to pay.

 

How can I make my loan payment?

 

If you are concerned about visiting a branch, keep in mind that you don’t have to go to a branch to make your payment. MCU offers Online Loan Pay that allows you to make your payment using another financial institution’s debit card. You can also call us at 1-800-951-8000 and we will process the payment for you over the phone. To make it easier for our members during these unprecedented times, we are waiving the $7 phone and web payment processing fee. You can also mail us a check or log into MEMCU Online and transfer money from another MCU account to make your loan payment.

 

 

What if I don't have money to pay my bills?

As a member, you are eligible to apply for a personal loan or a line of credit. Our loan officers are ready to work with you to help you get access to cash. Call us at 800-951-8000 and press option 6 to speak to a loan officer or apply for a Line of Credit Loan online. All loan applications can be processed online and signed electronically so there is no need to set foot in a branch. We can complete the entire loan process by phone and email.

What if I can’t travel to a branch to get cash?

Remember to use your MCU Visa Debit Card or MCU Cash Card at one of our many surcharge-free ATMs. MCU’s members can use both the Cash Points ATMs in North Carolina and any of the 30,000 CO-OP ATMs nationwide. To make sure you have access to your funds whenever you need it, please locate your card(s) and confirm that you know your PIN. Your MCU Visa Debit Card and MCU Cash Card can also be used at thousands of merchants to make purchases and get cashback. Call us at 800-951-8000, option 4, if you need to order a new card or PIN.
