Winston-Salem, NC, March 19, 2004-Members Credit Union chose Heather Ann Smith of Valdese to receive its most prestigious educational scholarship, the Daniel H. Elkins, Jr. award, for meritorious achievements in the areas of academic excellence and community service.
Miss Smith says of the award, “The Daniel H. Elkins, Jr. Scholarship has not only helped me with my college financial needs but has also enabled me to continue to make a difference in my community.” For the third year in a row, Miss Smith’s outstanding record of achievement set her apart from the many applications submitted. She has an impressive record of community service and is an honor student at Appalachian State University. Miss Smith is a third year undergraduate pursuing a degree in Psychology and plans to attend Graduate school upon completion.
